Electric Proms 2010

Is this com still in use? Hm...
Anyway, if there are still some fans out there reading this, you might be interested in this: Elton played at the BBC Electric Proms, and the show was broadcast on BBC Radio on October, 28th. It still is available to listen to on the BBC iPlayer, until November, 4th (and since it's radio, the listen again feature works worldwide). Elton played some solo stuff, but also was accompanied by Leon Russell for other songs from their new album (which I am hoping my lovely family will give me as a birthday present next week *gg*).
I thought it was a fantastic concert, well worth listening to.

Tour dates canceled.

You may or may not have heard that Elton has canceled several of his upcoming shows with Billy Joel, as well as the Red Piano show due to hospitalization for E-coli and influenza.

From ABC News:

Elton John has postponed a string of concert dates due to a serious infection and the flu.

John, 62, has now delayed three concerts with Billy Joel in the US next month as well as the final few dates of his Red Piano world tour in Britain and Ireland.

Promoters "were informed by management that Elton has been advised by his doctor to postpone these performances due to a serious case of e-coli bacterial infection and influenza," the singer's website said.

John has reportedly spent a couple of days at an exclusive London hospital.

But his partner David Furnish told the Mail On Sunday newspaper: "He's OK - he's fine."

I had a ticket for the Seattle show this weekend. :( Here's wishing Elton a speedy recovery!

Elton to adopt?

I was just watching the CTV news and there was an announcement that Elton is planning on adopting an orphaned baby boy. Interesting news, as I'd heard that he had once said he never planned to adopt, but I wish him the best with it if it happens!

LONDON — Elton John wants to adopt a 14-month-old boy from the Ukraine, saying Saturday that the toddler has "stolen my heart" after meeting him at an orphanage...

Just a reminder to everyone in North America that Elton will be on Elvis Costello's new show 'Spectacle' on Friday. In Canada, it's on CTV at 10:00 (in Ontario, anyway; adjust for your province/time zone). Not sure of the time for Americans.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I didn't know the station for Americans, either, but baroque_n_roll tells me that it is the Sundance Channel.

Elton John Introduces Jane Austen To Aliens In ‘Pride and Predator’

Published by Elisabeth Rappe on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at 10:09 am.
By now, you’ve probably heard that “Pride and Prejudice” heroine Elizabeth Bennet will be fighting off a zombie invasion in Seth Grahame-Smith’s upcoming novel, “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.” Hollywood studios are already reportedly already fighting for the rights to the book, but amazingly, “Zombies” will be beaten by another Jane Austen sci-fi adaptation — “Pride and Predator.”
According to Variety, Elton John’s Rocket Pictures is bringing the project to the big screen, directed by Will Clark, who cowrote the script with Andrew Kemble and John Pape. The story will apparently follow the original novel — until an alien crash lands in the village of Meryton and begins to murder the inhabitants.
Now all those marriage-minded men and women have bigger problems to worry about. “It felt like a fresh and funny way to blow apart the done-to-death Jane Austen genre by literally dropping this alien into the middle of a costume drama, where he stalks and slashes to horrific effect,” producer David Furnish said. Shooting begins in London later this year.
It’s pretty weird to have not one, but two action-oriented version of “Pride and Prejudice” which put Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet in the midst of horror and bloodshed. It can’t be a coincidence … can it? Is the joke ( which was pretty iffy to many Austen fans to begin with) already wearing thin before either film shoots?
